Currently reading....'Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found' by Suketu Mehta www.suketumehta.com

It's a very well researched book that talks about power and pleasure in Bombay and invariably gets deep into the lives of gangsters, cops, underworld dons, bar dancers, film makers, etc.

This is a Bombay that I never knew any details about in the 22 years that I spent in the city. Maybe, because both power and pleasure are intimately related to big money. And the middle class existence of most Bombayites restricts them from a world that caters to the antics of the rich.

Reading the book gave me the feeling that there are three different parallel universes in Bombay; that of the rich, the middle class and the poor. They all occupy the same space but each economic class has a completely different perception of the city.

So here we go...a work in progress...just like life...just like this blog...after procrastinating for a long time with the idea of penning my thoughts out there for everyone to see in the big bad world of WWW, I finally decided to give it a shot. It took a day of no work in the office and a little inspiration from a good old friend (who frankly I have lost touch with but strangely still read his blogs sometimes) to get started.

I don't know how good I will be at this...if I will blog away furiously for a few days and then procrastination will take over again...so in tribute to all those things that I diligently started as a hobby but never really followed to completion...I will call this a work in progress.
